The BRFC under14s played their first home game of the season against a strong Bromsgrove side at Metchley Lane. The squad size continues to grow, and a 22-man team provided cover in all positions. The game started slowly for BRFC, with familiar failings coming to the surface again. However, despite frequently losing the ball at the break down to an excellent rucking side, the team began to settle into a pattern of play. Bromsgrove scored first, and could have had more but for some solid defensive tackling. The scrum was excellent all afternoon, and the BRFC scrum-half began to see more of the ball. Spreading it out wide proved the best plan, and Nahum, Joe and Marcel scored excellent tries before half-time. In the second half BRFC began to turn the screw as injuries cut the Bromsgrove playing squad. Riyaan scored a trademark breakaway try, and Nahum added another. The best move was saved to last, with the forwards winning turnover ball in the midfield resulting in a fast, 5 pass move to put Karam in under the posts. It had been a much tougher game than the score suggested, and the whole squad contributed something.
