Up for the Cup
BRFC u14s win cup debut
A surprisingly sunny day was the backdrop for the team's eagerly awaited debut in the North Mids Cup. Kidderminster Carolians were the opposition, a team that we hadn't played for a couple of seasons, and the scene was set for an exciting game. The first 10 minutes were exactly that, play moving from one end of the field to the other without either side gaining the upper hand. Eventually Bourns spun the ball out and as is often the way, Nahum used his exceptional pace to find a gap and score under the posts. The forwards began to compete well at the ruck, and produced another mighty scrummaging performance. The backs were getting more ball and their pace and footwork began to tell. The rest of the first half then belonged to BRFC, with three further tries run in by Riyaan, 'dancing' Dan Hindle
and Joe, and four conversions from the mighty boot of Sam E. The second half also started with BRFC tries from Dan and Joe, but as expected Kidderminster came back strongly, and some strong defence was needed. Elliott and Sam R put in their usual exceptional tackle count, but other big hits started to come from Karam, Matthew, Jordan and Ollie A. Although Kiddy scored three second half tries, BRFC ran out 45-17 winners. It was a good game played in the right spirit, and the entire match day squad could feel proud that they had contributed.
