Grizzlies move up to the top tier in Provincial Rugby and rip Calgary Irish apart

Only 6 years ago, Bow Valley Grizzlies men's team didn't exist. Yet on May 5, 2018, they walked out at Calgary Irish fields to start their first Alberta Cup game and finished the game winning 74-10.

With a squad of over 40 players, the Grizzlies have continued to grow over the years and having dominated the lower tier division now play on a weekly basis against the top rugby teams in the Province.

Unlike the lower tier divisions, who only play teams in Southern Alberta, the Alberta Cup is a Province wide league, which means the Grizzlies will have to travel to Northern Alberta to play a number of fixtures this year.

Although the first game against the Irish was a bit of a walk over, the Grizzlies are aware that this year is gong to be a much tougher test for them.

The Grizzlies next fixture is Saturday May 12, 2018 at 13:45hrs at Calgary Rugby Union when they face Calgary Saints. Although the Saints lost their first game last week 46-10 to Calgary Canucks, they will provie to be a much tougher component to Calgary Irish.
