Brackley welcome one of the oldest clubs in Northampton, the Northampton Heathens to Fine Lady Fields this weekend.
The Heathens are a reminder that “real” rugby still exists, a club who have no ground but play in the heart of Northampton on the Racecourse and socialise at the Romany Pub post-match. A true social side who do not play in the leagues but still endeavour to play every week come rain or shine, despite the frequent let down of sides not travelling to play them.
At least the team from Brackley travelled over the Heathens a while back, albeit short on numbers but we were loaned a couple of players and had game and those who travelled had a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon now it is our turn to welcome the gentlemen of the Heathens to our club and to enjoy a proper social game rugby consisting of two halves, the first half on the grass and equally important the second half with a glass (or two) of Ale.
