Brackley 2nds 88-0 Northampton Casuals 3rds
Brackley run riot as they record biggest win in emphatic style.
For the 3rd week in a row, Brackley faced a Northampton side, this time at home, against Northampton Casuals, and turned on the style with their biggest win in recent times, running in 14 tries to finish the game 88-0.
Coming off a heavy defeat against BBOB 3rds last week, Brackley wanted to make amends, and with a full 15 with subs for the first time in weeks they knew they could do just that. Straight from the kick off Brackley showed their full intent and were always attacking the Casuals try line, with lock Kristian Roberts, Number 8 Jonathon Boot-Handford and wing Gareth Rees crossing over for very quick tries after some brilliant support play, then further scores from Centres Duncan Gray and Sam Ozzie breaking through the game line with sheer pace, stand-in fly half Andrew Jones and further tries from Roberts and Rees, again thrugh support play, with Boot-Handford hitting 6 out of the 7 conversions to take the half time score to 40-0.
As Casuals knew that their job was looking increasingly difficult, Brackley didn't switch off and came straight back at the Casuals defence, with other wing Dan Cooper grabbing two tries using his pace to his advantage, captain and flanker Andy Morris finding a gap for his try, Jones againb scoring as did Gray and Ozzie to all take a brace of tries from the game, Boot-Handford breaking off the back of the scrum from the halfway line and running in under the sticks for his second. Flanker Dan Gibb getting the final try of the game using his pace and power to score near the corner, Boot-Handford hitting 9 conversions to take his tally to 28 points, but a fine team effort all round as Brackley showed how good they can be when they are on form. Next weeks St Patricks Day fixture is yet to confirmed but whoever they play, Brackley will be going into the fixture with their heads firmly held high after the way they played in this game.
