Bracknell Hockey club

At Bracknell Hockey Club we aim to allow as many young people as possible to experience hockey and gain a passion for team sports. We have an established junior section and coach around 40 to 50 young people each week.

We invite young players from 5 years old to join training. At 13 years old, players can transfer in to the senior section of the club where they will be able to train with the senior teams and join our development side.

If you would like to try hockey for the first time or continue an interest you already have, then please come along to a training session. There's no need to tell us in advance, we welcome new members throughout the season. We hope the additional information provided below answers most questions, but please contact me directly if there's something else you would like to know.

Training

Everyone training must complete a club membership form.

Players should arrive 15 minutes before training starts for registration.

Players under 12 years old must be dropped off and collected from the clubhouse or pitch.

Dates & Times

Training is held every Sunday between 10:30 and 11:30 (unless there is a tournament). The dates for this season are as follows:

End 2013 17/03/2013

There is no training or matches during the summer.

Kit & equipment
All junior players must wear a gum shield (mouth guards) and shin guards
Training and matches are played on astroturf. Astroturf shoes are preferred but trainers are acceptable
Any and all comfortable sports clothing can be worn for training.

Costs
Annual junior subscription - £55 per player per season.

Thames Valley Minis

In 2012/13 a number of clubs in Berkshire and on its borders will be hosting monthly tournaments at Under 8, Under 10 and Under 12 level. These are designed to support the development of young players by allowing them to put into practice the skills they learn on the training ground, and have fun playing against other local clubs. This is the fifth season of the Thames Valley Minis.

These tournaments are by invitation only.


Tournaments are held on the first Sunday of the month (except October). Note there are no January tournaments.

Tournaments start promptly at 9.30am unless otherwise indicated here or advised by hosts/club coaches. Occasionally pitch availability dictates a later start but this is to be avoided where possible. Depending on the number of matches scheduled they take between 1 and 2 hours. The exact times for each tournament will be sent out by host clubs a week or so in advance.
