Warriors beat Idle to confirm top position
Warrior’s hard work in training paying dividends
On another fine & sunny Sunday morning Bradford & Bingley Warriors arrived early to Wagon Lane, well ahead of their opponents (we let them off the mix up after the result!).
The Warriors were asked to bat first after losing the toss with Idle managing 2 wickets with some good fielding (run out) in the first 4 overs.
B&B struck back with the second pair of Oliver and George scoring 30 runs with the loss of 1 wicket (run out again) 214-3.
Some excellent running between the wickets and punishment of the bad balls from Ben and Sam advanced the score to 239 - 3 and then Owen & Josh put the cherry on the cake to end the innings on 253 –3.
All together a much improved batting performance from the team.
During the first Idle batting pair our boys ‘put the marker down’ with two early wickets from Scott and Owen 197-2. Next pair were held with a tight spell and a wicket from Muneeb 200-3.
Ben and Owen again pressed home the advantage with wickets to leave the last pair needing to add an unlikely 47 to their teams 207-5 to take the game.
Ben struck again in our penultimate over and rounding up an altogether ‘best performance of the season’ Oliver took 3 Idle scalps in our last over. Two of these were on the last 2 balls therefore next time Oliver bowls he will be on a hat trick (make it a straight one son!)
Well done to all the boys for a great performance from me and Peter Dixon.
