In a game that heralded the long-awaited return of top Bingley swiller Jonny Armstrong to the Second team fray, Brighouse won the toss and elected to bat.

Only fielding ten men, this decision came as no surprise – and would prove to be a decision that would ultimately deprive Bingley of 5 crucial bonus points.

The visitors began the game in defiant mood with the hobbling Greg Osbourne knocking the ball around from his one functioning leg, whilst Geoff Stewart chose to dig in at the other end.

With 37 on the board, Macca chose an opportune time to strike, as his spin trapped Brighouse's skipper Osbourne in front for 26.

And from this moment on wickets fell at regular intervals, more often than not to dubious full tosses from Richie (he would agree).

Macca ended with impressive figures of 5-19 from ten overs, and despite a little late resistance in the form of 25 from the Brighouse wicket keeper, Adam Swallow (3-8) was brought on for a late cameo and Brighouse were all out for 86.

Bradley Justin Davis (1-15) deserves a mention and can count himself unlucky to end the day with just one wicket, with his thirteen overs going for just fifteen runs. A good effort too from the fasting Waj Ali.

After a fine spread of cakes, Warren Allitt and Rob Dunn opened up for the Seconds, and set about knocking off the runs in double-quick time.

Warren hit four after four on his way to an unbeaten 58, and with Rob (29 not-out) chipping in with the odd run or two from the other end, the innings lasted just 14.2 overs as Bingley won by 10 wickets.

The perfect warm up for Sunday's Priestley Shield semi-final at Woodlands...
