Grave day for 1st and 3rds

Saturday 28th May.

The first team were humbled by a struggling New Farnley at Wagon Lane as they were bowled out for just 74. Hamza Iqbal made 30 and Ryan Norris 11, the only two batsmen to get into double figures. Farnley would chase down the small target with 8 wickets in hand to leave the first team in mid table.

The 2nd team travelled to Brighouse and were soon in all kinds of trouble as they slipped to 43/7. Luckily some late order runs from Adam Swallow (27) Zaid Saleem (33) and Freddie Binns (11) recovered the total to 122 all out from 37.1 overs. Bingley were able to take regular wickets and dissmissed Brighouse for 113 from 40.2 overs. A good win for the 2nds as George Heartfield (3-16), George Gill (4-34) and Matthew Keeton (2-8) sharing the wickets.

The third team travelled to picturesque Gargrave in confident mood after a solid performance against league leaders Long Lee when the rain had the final say. Unfortunately the real Gargrave showed up against Bingley after their indifferent start to the season. The home side posted 225/9 off their 45 overs. At 101/4 Rick Foulder's young team thought they were in the game but a 5 wicket stand of 78 took the game away from the visitors. Andy Dobson and Jack Dixon both picked up 4 wickets a piece. Bingley's chase never got going as they were rolled out for just 31.

Monday 30th May.

The first XI also had a game on bank holiday and made the journey to Farsely hoping the end the weekend on a high. Unfortunately Arthur Price had other ideas and made 109 of Farsley's 218/8. Ryan Cooper unable to make a dent against his former side falling for just 1. Early wickets undermined Bingley's chase as they were reduced to 21/3. Scotty (37) and Hamza (51) led the recovery but after they departed Bingley began to run out of time and wickets and were eventually all out for 192 in the final over. Dave Clow's 40* bringing some respectability to the total.
