Anyone who has pulled on a Bees shirt in the last 30-odd years will have lined up next to Dale Martin at some point. Here is his empassioned plea:

Now we are at rock bottom, I am asking any former players to please make an effort and make yourself available to play.

We are now down to one team, while other clubs are putting out five- e.g. Yarnbury, Selby and three : e.g. Keighley, Scarborough and even my son Jamie's team- Bridlington - are putting out three teams.

I would also ask that if we do get some of the hundreds of players who have played for us that we treat them with respect, no matter how good they are, and not just some first teamer who comes for two weeks gets loads of kit and we never see again.

To see one team out and no team at home is heart breaking, we need as many players as we can to help to make the club fuller and help make players play for their place.

I know I for one, that I have not been down as much as I could, but I have over the years. So once again I am asking all former or new players to please make a massive effort to try to play once a week, once a month or even bring your kids and watch.

I asked the club to put this on the main website as I would like other peoples points of view, to see what others think. If we do not do something can the last person turn the lights out.

Yours in hope

Dale.
