Burgess Fractures Fibula

Sunday October 2

Sears's talisman and midfield play maker Matt Burgess is out for a lengthy period.

"Absolutely gutted for him and the team", Sears said with the news that midfield dynamo Matt Burgess has fractured his fibula and sustained ankle ligament damage after yesterday's Cup win over Wessex Wanderers.

"It was a high impact challenge with no malice from either party. Matt did play on for a few minutes but started to hobble and we brought him off".

"The swelling was bad but we hoped it was just the force of the challenge and did not expect the injuries to be so extensive, which I now understand will require surgery".

He added, "I am gutted for Matt as he is such a great player and gutted for the team as we were starting to build momentum and Matt is key to our success".
