BSYFC U14 Girls win in GFA County Cup Semi Final beating Bishops Cleeve Colts 3-2.
On a cold, wet and very windy day which affected both teams especially when playing against the wind the GFA County Cup semi final between the BSYFC U14 Girls and Bishops Cleeve Colts was played.
BSYFC was playing with the wind in the first half and tried to make the advantage pay. Molly B scoring the first with a neat turn and shot high into the net. Libby H scored a long distance 2nd goal. Then with some nice passing which allowed Emily H to get through beating the defender and slotting the ball low into the corner. We had many chances with Emily H also hitting the post but at half time it was 3-0. Would this be enough in the conditions ?
Then playing against the wind we continued to press on in search of more goals. But just could not convert the chances that came our way. Then against the run of play Bishops Cleeve got a goal back and it was then backs to the wall defending from BSYFC. Late on Bishops Cleeve scored another to make it 3-2 and the pressure was certainly on BSYFC. We managed to close out the game without losing anymore goals to win 3-2 and be the first team through to the GFA U14 Girls County Cup Final to be played at the GFA in March. This is a proud moment for all the girls and the management who have worked hard over many seasons trying to play attractive passing football and lets just hope we can perform in the Final.
