Welcome to Brentwood RFC's U10's
A warm welcome to players and parents old and new to what we hope will be a fantastic season for the U10's and its WORLD CUP season as well so hope you will be filled with hopes of future international glory
This season the game develops further as the kids get older, with contested scrums and line outs introduced for the first time and playing with a slightly larger ball (size 4). We also commence midweek training on Thursdays for the first time in addition to our usual Sunday mornings.
Our coaching philosophy is based on 3 very important points:
1. To recognise the importance of fun and enjoyment as reasons to play
2. To be a positive role model to the children
3. To adhere to and promote the rugby values - Teamwork, Respect, Enjoyment, Discipline, Sportsmanship
Its important for parents to realise that rugby is a late specialist sport therefore at this age we apply a generalist approach to training kids in the sport.
We will focus on:
Physical Development - Agility, Balance, Coordination and Speed
Tactical Skills - Use of Space, Running Forward, Support and Continuity
Technical Skills - Evasion, Ball Handling and Passing, 2v1 and 3 v2 situations
Unit Skills - Scrum, Line out, Tackling, Positions in attack and defence, Ruck and Maul
We operate an inclusive policy for all players without the use of A or B teams but we recognise that players develop skills at different speeds and we accommodate that in our coaching.
WE WELCOME ANY NEW PLAYERS AT ANY STAGE OF THE SEASON to come along and try the sport out for a few weeks without any commitment to join, the coaches names and faces are on our site. Just ask at the club on a Sunday morning for the U10's and someone will direct you.
We also hope to have a few more social events for all the family this year - perhaps a team trip to a Premiership or European cup game or two so watch this space.
