Sedgley Park, a major Club in Manchester, brought a touring side to play a Bridgnorth team selected from all levels within the Club, and in perfect conditions the
crowd were entertained by a veritable feast of running Rugby.
The game controlled sensibly by Referee Kevin Buck ,allowed play to flow in an energetic, but sporting manner and with scarcely a penalty kick at goal in sight.
In the first few minutes Bridgnorth attacked strongly and before the visitors had time to recover from their journey and their Friday night entertainment, Luke Stevens took a quick tap penalty and scooted over untouched.
Luke Stevens also made a great run feeding Will Biddell who cantered in, and converted the kick himself to make the score 12-0
Sedgley Park fought back to score an unconverted try but then the Stevens, Biddell combination again created a goal
Sedgley then took a quick tap penalty to return the compliment.
Sedgleys secret weapon, one Juan Crous a 6'3" South African International second row, made his prescence felt in the centre with a storming try and another try in the corner from their low flying wingman, saw the visitors take the lead. It was shortlived however as Sam Alvey, Arnell and Will Bidell, getting his hatrick and converting all three.
Sedgley continued to attack and two more unconverted tries brought the scores closer together, but another good try from Alvey brought up the fifty points and secured a hard won victory.

The game was an excellent advert for the Sport of Rugby, where two teams who had never met before, with each having individual members who had rarely, if ever, played together, could produce such an entertaining game.

I am sure that Bridgnorth RFC, and particularly the Bar Manager, would be pleased to welcome Sedgley Park and their supporters back any time, and if they bring a place kicker next time,.... who knows?
