Not for the first time this season, Bridport discovered how high the bar is in the Premier Division, despite fighting back twice in the first half. The Bees could have been ahead in the second minute as Sam Charles raced away. His shot hit the post and flew back into his path but the sliding striker under defensive pressure could only steer the ball wide. Five minutes later the visitors Jamie Housen surged through midfield to fire home from 18 yards. For the next 15 minutes Bridport laid seige to the Wells goal, forcing a succession of corners where, among other things, Shane Evans had an attempt cleared off of the line and keeper Owen Dunn brilliantly tipped another over the bar. The scores were level after 22 minutes when a Dan Wise cross was powerfully headed home by Tom Richardson. In the next few minutes the Bees could have been two up with first, Jamie Morgan shooting wide and then Russell Legg finishing off a flowing team move with a shot that flew inches wide. Just before half time Wells' Jake Brown, from nowhere, ran across the edge of the box before turning and beating Sam Filkins from 12 yards. The dramatic first half still had another memorable momemt to come as Matt Condliffe found Sam Charles who netted for 2-2. Bridport started the second half as they finished the first with Chris Senior having a shot blocked after 48 minutes. Six minutes later Richardson nearly scored as his shot whistled inches over the bar. It was downhill all the way from then on for the Bees as a swift counter attack with 67 minutes elapsed allowed Tom Manning to pass to Brown for 3-2. Four minutes later City sewed up the points as Manning pounced on defensive indecision, leaving Filkins helpless for the fourth time in the game.
