Brigg Ladies 3rds Strike First Win of Season
Brigg Ladies 3 welcomed Grimsby 2nds on Saturday and with the home team looking for their first win during this seasons campaign, it was looking forward to being an exciting game.
Brigg started strong with Grimsby struggling to get the ball into the home team's half. Brigg's middle four did an excellent job, and the breakthrough came with a Brigg goal by Jass Lally – cooly sliding it past the opposition goalkeeper after an excellent game of link up between midfielder Ellie Whitaker and forward Becky Wheeler passing it through to the goalscorer.
Grimsby were coming back strong, but Brigg were on fire – with Jass Lally looking for a second and succeeding after finding the back board following a fine strike from the edge of the D in the first short corner of the match.
The second half was more of a matched affair, but Brigg continued their firm grip on the game – with excellent play from goalkeeper Jo Stewart and the back line. But, the third goal from Brigg wasnt far away with Charlie Worthington doing her job by being on the post and pushing the ball behind the line after a free for all in the Grimsby D.
