From behind Brigg take all three points.
Brigg Town 2 Glapwell 1
Brigg came back from a goal down at half time to score twice in the second half in their league game at home to Glapwell. Robbie Clark was back in the starting line up, to replace the unavailable Alan Lamb, for his second spell with the club, after being released by Doncaster Rovers. He set up the first attack of the game by playing the ball into space down the left wing for Danny Buttle, who won a throw-in off Michael Harcourt. The ball was switched across the pitch to Michael Jacklin but his attempted cross into the goal area went out of play at the far post. Looking dangerous in the opening stages, Danny Buttle made a run from the half way line down the left touch line past two opponents before crossing the ball to Paul Grimes in the penalty area but the Brigg striker headed it over the bar. Next, Jamie Steele made a strong forward run before slipping the ball into the path of the advancing Michael Jacklin but when he tried to find Paul Grimes, the ball was struck over the bar. Brigg worked a good opening after twenty minutes with Paul grimes played clear through the middle of the pitch but James Lindley was quickly off his line to smother the shot. Glapwell started to settle and pushed forward forcing Andy Pettinger into a good save and then Ian Brown curled a shot wide of the upright from the edge of the penalty area. The visitors went ahead after half an hour after a Brigg free kick into their goal area broke down and they attacked down the right wing. When the ball was crossed from the right wing into the penalty area, SCOTT HELLEWELL’s attempted clearance spun off his boot into the corner of the net for an own goal. Just before the break, Robbie Clarke sent Danny Buttle away again on the left wing and he sprinted past two defenders before sending a deep cross along the face of the goal.
Glapwell had a good chance to increase their lead at the beginning of the second half but Andy Pettinger made another important close range save before Ian Holmes fired a second shot over the bar. Play remained fairly even until Brigg scored an equalizing goal after sixty five minutes. In a quick counter attacking move, the ball was played out to Danny Buttle on the left wing and his cross to the far post was forced home by LEE COCHRANE. Seven minutes later, Danny Buttle again won possession on the left before sending over another cross to the far side of the penalty area finding PAUL GRIMES, who controlled the ball neatly before firing it into the back of the net from ten yards out. Glapwell made substitutions in an attempt to gain some thing from the game but found Scott Hellewell and Lee Cochrane in commanding form at the heart of the home defence allowing Brigg to win three precious points.
On Tuesday evening, Carlton Town are the visitors, followed by a long journey next Saturday afternoon to Sutton Coldfield.
