Quinn happy as Town Kick off

Published on Thursday 2 August 2012 15:32

Brighouse Town manager Paul Quinn was delighted with the work out at the Welfare Ground on Tuesday evening, the scene of so many triumphs for his father Gerry.

“I now have some difficult decision to make for the starting 11 on Saturday Evening against Pickering Town (3pm).

“We took a smaller squad to Emley with selection in mind and all came through unscathed.”

“The friendly with Emley was more like a league game and had an extra edge to it with three former Brighouse players in the side - Anthony Haigh, Chris Wdowczyk and Dean Wharham who played at the start of the season with us.

“I expect a tough game with Pickering. Since they changed their manager in February and struggling for half a season things have picked up for them and they have just signed Carl Stewart from Tadcaster Albion who scored over 20 goals for them last year with his team mate.

“I am hoping that with us starting early and the Football League starting some two weeks later that we can have a good crowd for this game.”

Pickering Town only two weeks ago played newly instated Football League club York City and lost 5-2.

The clubs development side who commence their Lancashire League programme on August 7 away to Eccleshill United have been playing friendlys ironically against the reserve side, and Kirkburton. they have another next week against Golcar.
