BRIGHOUSE Town have major injuries problems ahead of Saturday's Emirates FA Cup Preliminary round tie away to Preston-based club Bamber Bridge (3.0).

Skipper and full-back Adam Field (ankle) looks to be out, according to manager Vill Powell, for a week or two and the same applies to wideman Iwan Heeley (knee).

"We won't know on Adam until it has been assessed by the physio on Thursday (tonight) while Heeley's knee, and he has had the problem before, could be long term.

"There is better news on right winger Matt Orr (jarred knee) with him due to have a fitness test at Thursday's session (tonight)," added the manager, who has got cover but injuries are not what he wanted at this early stage of the season.

Bamber Bridge were watched on Tuesday night at the Sir Tom Finney Stadium for the manager by U-21 coaching staff Barry Thomas and Tom Stacey, and witnessed the Neil Reynolds' managed side beat reprieved Goole 6-1 following up on their 2-1 opening day success at Radcliffe Borough, before filing their report Wednesday morning.

A FA Cup run is both a financial and prestigious event in a semi-professional club's fixture calendar so the incentive is there for the Town side to pick themselves up after Tuesday evening's setback in the north east which saw the squad arrive back at 1.30am thanks to roadworks on the A19 and an A1(M) junction.

South Shields' home cup tie with Bridlington Town will be televised by BBC Online on Saturday at 12.30.

Besides the 6-1 setback for Goole, who Town visit on Saturday week, there was also a thumping on Tuesday evening for Ossett Albion who lost 7-1 to Tadcaster Albion, visitors to the Yorkshire Payments Stadium on Bank Holiday Monday (3.0).

Should Town draw their tie then the replay will be on Monday night (7.45).

Town have received a financial boost on the political front this week with Craig Whittaker, Conservative MP for Caldel Valley, his daughter Sophie, the newly elected Calderdale councillor for Rastrick and Scott Benton, councillor for Brighouse and Clifton and leader of the Conservative & Unionist Party on the council, all chipping in for a groundside advertising board.

Former Halifax-based Town striker Nathan Cartman, who left the club for Harrogate Railway and then moved on to Darlington to assist their passage into the National League North, has signed for Farsley Celtic and scored in his first game for them last Saturday, a 3-1 win over Coalville Town in the Evo-Stik NPL Premier Division.
