THE FALL OUT from the defeat in the Emirates FA Cup Preliminary round stage to lowly Parkgate FC from Rotherham has comeback to bite Brighouse Town on Saturday and could again on Tuesday night.

The EvoStik League chiefs rearranged a home game with Loughborough Dynamo on Saturday, September 8 to fill the gap for the first round of the cup, and now with Saturday's original opponents, Cleethorpes Town progressing, Saturday's away trip to the coast has been altered to an away game in deepest Cambridgeshire with Wisbech Town (3.0) which was originally down for January 19. The Cleethorpes game is now down for a Tuesday night on October 16.

Town travel the 134 miles to meet Gary Setchall's Fenmen, who were promoted last season from the United Counties League, bouyed by a tremendous performance on Monday night against East League Division One leaders Ossett United. It came at the right time after a disappointing home game on the Saturday when they lost 1-0 at home to Pontefract Collieries.

Manager Vill Powell made six changes to the side that lost the chance to take Town clear at the top of the table instead of seeing them drop to seventh.

Powell after Monday night's Integro League Cup first round victory-sealed with a 90th minute winner from Tom Robinson-commented:" I gave people chance to claim a shirt and they did. Goalkeeper Matt Smith gave a very assured performance, fullback Ellis Nicholls, out since July 28 from an injury received at Penistone Church, was fantastic. He put in a shift from start to finish and was tremendous to say he has had no match fitness in all of two months. He and young Adam Dennison, also at fullback, were up against an experienced outfit in Ossett United with 13 first team players in their named side and 12 who played on the weekend in the league game win over Tadcaster Albion.

"Jonesey (Adam Jones) was good value and showed consistent form as he bossed midfield. You could probably say Ossett had the majority of possession but did not really trouble us and the selected players showed a great reaction to the poor performance against Pontefract Collieries."

Still looking to strengthen his squad, Powell says he is re-engaging FC Halifax Town's very promising Ghana-born wideman Ousman Cham who has been back with his employers since picking up a leg injury at Morpeth Town in late August.

He is also looking at two players and had his assistant Stacy Reed at Knaresborough Town on Tuesday evening, plus he is hoping that Huddersfield Town U23's midfielder Isaac Marriott, who was with Brighouse for the most of last season, will return after he comes back from a a competition in Portugal later this week.

Powell rested his ace striker Aaron Martin on Monday night after he took a hefty knock to his shin against Ponte Colls and is hopeful he will be back against Wisbech who last Saturday had their best result of the season so far, a 3-1 home win over Marske United and then they lost 3-1 with AFC Mansfield in their Integro League Cup first round tie on Tuesday night.

The manager is also hopeful he will have midfielder Iwan Heeley back in contention for Saturday after he missed out on the Pickering Town 3-1 win and the 1-0 setback to Ponte Colls through clashing with his garage door and receiving a large lump to his forehead and a striking black eye!

Huddersfield Town U-19 wideman Jordan Eli has returned to Canalside for treatment after leaving the field in the 13th minute of last Saturday's game with a badly bruised foot.

In the meantime Town have allowed left fullback Lewis Riley to go on a dual registration to Harrogate Railway Athletic where he has picked up a three match ban for being sent off in his NCEL Premier League game for the former EvoStik Northern Premier League club.

Town have a change of physiotherapist, Saddleworth-based Harry Gee leaving for a working stint in Australia and so another `majic spongeman' from west of the Pennines has come on board. Leeds University qualified Danny Ashton, who lives in Padiham and was recommended to Town by Vanarama National League leaders Harrogate Town, has overseen the last two games.

Town have been drawn at home on Monday, October 8 to Garforth Town in the first round of the West Riding County FA Senior Cup (7.45).
