Clitheroe manager Simon Haworth, who has brought in quite a batch of new players over the close season, was one of several managers at the Dual Seal stadium for Monday's game. He was joined by Gateshead's assistant manager Lee Nogan, who used to be with FC Halifax Town, and there were also management teams from Ashton United, Hyde United, Trafford and Lancaster City.
Portugese-born centre back Senio Conte continues to train with Town while they work on attaining international clearance, while long serving full-back Chris Fisher has left the club and signed for Goole with the club's best wishes.
Promising wide player Ash Scully, who was not considered for the two FA Cup ties with Glossop NE through a back injury, is also out of the Bank Holiday weekend's fixtures with Clitheroe and away on Monday to Colwyn Bay.
One player who could come back in is talented midfielder Tom Haigh who has been unavailable for the games with Glossop.
Clitheroe opened their league campaign with a 2-2 draw away at Ossett Albion, then beat Scarborough Athletic 3-0 at home before losing 1-0 to EBAC Northern League Division One cub Consett last Saturday at home in the FA Cup.
Like The Blues of Clitheroe, The Seagulls of Colwyn Bay are under a new manager, Paul Moore taking over in May after the previous incumbent saw the club relegated from the Evo-Stik NPL Premier Division in 23rd place at the end of April.
They lost their opening game 1-0 at resurgent Farsley Celtic and then bounced back at their Old Colwyn Central Park ground 3-1 against Scarborough Athletic on the Tuesday night. In the FA Cup last Saturday they went to Barnsley and beat Shaw Lane 1-0 to earn a long trip to Morpeth in the first round proper on September 3.
Town are running a coach to Colwyn and supporters can book their seats on Saturday or by ringing 07769 860694
In the 312 paying crowd on Tuesday night plus some 50 or so guests-cum-staff or both clubs and players, were a batch of around 20 young teenagers who certainly brought some atmosphere to the ground, and only once did they step out of line when in and amongst their chanting they let off a blue smoke flare.
Referee Luke Watson from Barnsley spotted it being thrown over the perimeter fencing and has reported the club to the FA but informed club officials he had added that he was impressed how quickly the stewards had acted to nip things in the bud.
Town's Development team should have kicked off their Lancashire League season last week at Liversedge but the club had tendered their resignation. However, 24 hours later they had been reinstated but it was too late to get the game back on and it will be played later in the season.
On Saturday they are away to Bradford club Thackley's reserve team (3.00) and the fixture can't come quick enough for manager Charlie Tolley and his staff wanting to look at new talent in serious competition.
