BRIGHOUSE TOWN manager Vill Powell has moved swiftly to cover for suspended strikers Gabriel Johnson and Aaron Martin by signing Sheffield FC's former Sheffield United player Mohammed Ibrahim to play at Trafford FC on Saturday (3.0).

Martin joined Johnson-seeing out his third game at Shaw View this weekend-with his two cautions and then red disciplinary punishment after being harshly, in Town officials' eyes by referee Peter Walker last Saturday against Hyde.

Ibrahim, 20, has tremendous pace on his side as well as skill and looks like he will be challenging Aidan Kirby and Waide Fairhurst for a starting place. Kirby, the former Frome Town, Clitheroe and Army striker, has really coming into his own since coming in for Johnson and Fairhurst, by his own admission, wants game time to get totally match fit. For next Saturday's home game with Radcliffe Borough it looks like for the first time this season Powell will have serious competition and a real selection headache as the bang in form Martin was just handed the customary one match.

Powell and the club's chairman Charlie Tolley have awarded contracts to both Martin and Johnson who join contracted midfielder Thomas Haigh who will be playing in his 100th game for Town against Trafford FC who were 2-0 winners at the Yorkshire Payments Stadium back in early November.

In the meantime, the manager has released wide players Brad Riley and Prince Attakorah, striker Jacob Buchanon who has been playing up at AFC Emley on a dual registration and Knaresborough Town goalkeeper Jack Rushworth who was on a dual registration but hadn't played a game since putting pen to paper back in November shortly after Chandler Hallwood suffered his fractured scaphoid.

Christopher Butt has been the custodian since Hallwood's injury apart from one game taken by Rotherham United loanee Laurence Bilboe who has since been released back to the Millers.

Hallwood is back in training and, again, once he is fit will present the manager with a selection headache.

Midfielder Callum Robinson is back in contention this week after being left out of the squad last week following a short skiing holiday which forced him to miss training.

Town take on a Trafford side that are unbeaten in five games after their 1-1 draw at Glossop North East last Saturday and are sixth in the table with 43 points from 11 wins and a staggering 10 draws. Manager Tom Baker runs a very professional outfit and he has the opposition watched the previous week. His representative at the game with Hyde United last Saturday will have seen a much more workmanlike and all out attacking side than he did back on November 4.

Town remained in 17th place with that draw against Hyde and 12 points ahead of bottom club Goole who have played the same number of games.

Powell has also put in two seven day notices with an Evo-Stik League Division One North and West Riding CAL club just as further cover.

The club's U-21 side are due to play at Ossett Town this evening (7.30) but supporters should check the club's website and Twitter account to check with regards if the game has been given the go-ahead or postponed after this week's horrendous weather.
