A late goal condemned Brighouse Town to their first defeat of the season yesterday but gave them a desire to seek swift retribution.
Town won their first league game of the season when they got the better of Eccleshill United on the opening day of the Kool Sport Northern Counties East League Division One the previous Saturday.
At the weekend, they looked set to add to their points tally until Lee Wilkinson snatched all three for Villa with an 88th-minute winner.
On Tuesday night, the Doncaster outfit have to travel to St Giles Road at Hove Edge once more.
Villa must now be favourites for the NCEL Cup first- round tie but the closeness of the league game and Town’s quick chance to avenge their defeat will slash the odds.
It was doubly galling for Brighouse to lose yesterday as it was their first home game of the season.
But it was to a side that is now joint top of Division One. Villa are one of only three clubs to have enjoyed a maximum start.
