FA Cup preview from Bradford T&A

The FA Cup takes centre stage for the lower league semi-pro clubs this weekend as the extra-preliminary round comes on the second Saturday of their season.

All five of the clubs involved at this stage have played two competitive fixtures, so there should be no ring rust from the close season.

The biggest focus will be on the derby between hosts Silsden and Brighouse Town.

The two clubs are from the same step on the pyramid system but the Cobbydalers play their football in the North West Counties League Premier Division, while Town are in the Baris Northern Counties East League's top tier.

They had planned a pre-season friendly but shelved that game once the FA Cup draw had been made because of fear of giving too much away.

It should be an intriguing contest, and the clubs will have one eye on Eccleshill United’s home tie with Glasshoughton Welfare as the winners will face each other in the preliminary round a fortnight later.
