We travelled to Long Melford today all buzzing following 2 great performances, with dale, gaz, brough, Burnett, and god knows who else missing it was a chance for some to stake a claim towards the end of a good first season.
We started brightly and in the first 5 minutes carved out 3 quality chances, firstly man of the match Danny Hill
played in Beardo with a precision pass who ran on and smashed wide, shortly later it was the same combo as again Beardo flashed by the goal with Ross screaming at the back post.
Moments later ross came close and hill fired just wide. We took a deserved lead however when Danny played in Ross on the edge of the 18 yard ox, Ross turned 2 defenders inside out all in one movement and smashed the ball with his lefty benson striking the bar and into the top bins, boom 1-0.
To be fair the next 10 minutes we could have killed the game off with a host of other chances but poor finishing and decision making let us down,
Melford seemed to come into the game after this and had 2 great chances of there own in a short space of time.
On 40 minutes Beardo was booked for failing to move away from the ball and raising his skinny legs up as the ball was struck.(how costly this would prove to be).
Right on half time however they broke away catching us , and there striker out muscled our defence and shot early from 20 yards lobbing grids into the too corner, 1-1 half time and the game should have been out of sight.
There were stiff words from a little man at half time, and we all went out more fired up.
We were going to struggle however after 5 minutes when Beardo was played in one on one, the Lino flagged for offside, the ref blew his whistle And Beardo flapped his arms like an angry terradactil before smashing the ball into the next field and was duly given a second yellow card.
All that was left was for Beardo to get out his little white belly and slump across the pitch with Melford bantering him out of sight.
. To be fair the rest of the second half was a physical game with little football played. They created 3 more chances, firstly grids tipping round the post when there striker was in one on one, then again denying there striker with his legs.
Shortly after this we caught them on a quick incisive counter attack when some good work from cook played in hill, hill knocked the ball square of the defender outpacing him and smashed the ball in off the post to make it 2-1 and cue celebrations.
Last 10 minutes they pushed us but the closest they came was from a free kick, grids doing well to push it on to the post and away for a corner.
The game finished 2-1 and everyone was buzzing again following a positive performance, we just need to cut out the poor discipline and we may have a chance to push on for trophies next season.
For the record Meadows has agreed to do a dirty pint at the end of the season for his massive 300 carat 19 stone, 6 ft gold chain he wears
Iike mr t and manages to chav down the new tracksuits, and this is coupled by club captain Warren Joseph
agreeing to do an 8 shot minimum after losing grids bank card.............
