An away trip to Clanfield was next for Oliver Roberts and Pete Smiths team. After winning by eight goals last time out the management had to keep the teams feet on the ground. A hard end of year was on the cards and the lads couldn’t get carried away yet.
From the off Brimscombe & Thrupp FC started strong and fast, maybe a bit too fast as they were trying to force the first goal to come. Once the game settled down the Lily-whites were playing some good football spreading the ball about on a large pitch. The chances were starting to come as John Peacock hit the bar and Matt Blythe, Lee Pritchard and Luke Fletcher all had ago. After forty minutes the deadlock was broke when a good run down the left by Keith Mace go from the half way line into the box and smash it in from a tight angle. Half time came and a deserved one nil lead after a dominating half from the away side.
Second half kicked off under the lights and Clainfield had come out looking to level things. This was a testing time but the back five of James Crowest, Stuart Tardivo, Oliver Roberts, Andy Neale and Will Flower stood strong and gave little away. Brimscombe & Thrupp FC started to get back on top and half way through the half good play by Peacock set up Will Flower to make it two. It was good work and shot from Pritchard which set up Luke Fletcher to make it three and another good away win. Star man Oliver Roberts on his superb defensive display.
Staying second in the table and only one point behind Gloucester City. It will be a fascinating encounter Saturday 10th December when the top two meet at Gloucester.
