Fletcher hits double

Fletcher hits double image

Another win for Brimscombe but not without having to battle again. The first half started with both sides looking to get on the offensive and both playing some tidy football without either keeper having to make any saves of note. Brimscombe started to get a foot hold in the game with around 20 mins gone due to the tireless running and commitment of Stuart Tarvido and Scott Mortimer in the centre midfield. The deadlock was broken after 25 mins when Luke Fletcher crept in at the back post after another fine Brimscombe move and slotted the ball past a stranded Saracens Keeper.
Brimscombes defense were being worked by a determined Saracens side who were not going to make life easy for the visitors. Brimscombe were then given some breathing space just before half time when another Luke Fletcher shot was deflected into the net.
At half time Brimscombe new that there was going to be a fightback from the Cheltenham side and this turned out to be the case. The Lillywhites were struggling to kill the game off and some decent chances were missed going forward. Saracens continued to apply the pressure throughout the second half without ever really testing the Brimscombe keeper. The away side held firm in another really gritty team performance that saw the whole 14 players give there all and work hard for each other. Saracens look like a promising side and on another day could have troubled Brimscombe but on this occasion the visitors were just too good and consolidated there position second in the league.
Man of the match was Stuart Tarvido who just pipped the unlucky Scott Mortimer.
