BNS&SC AUNT SALLY TEAM

BNS&SC AUNT SALLY TEAM image

A BNS&SC Aunt Sally team (possibly 2) will be entered into the Summer League. Starting end of April.

Bob Watts wants to start up an Aunt Sally team as Brize Norton Sports & Social Club. I think this is a great idea as its a another sport, something for the Summer and another source of revenue for the Club.

Bobs message:
Simon, My idea is to start a team from scratch. I am willing to play but will not bring a team with me. I thought we could put up a poster in the pavilion to try and drum up some support. We would be in the Bampton & District Aunt Sally League and the games are on Thursdays starting at the end of April. We play about 18 games during the season, 9 home and 9 away. The games start at 8.30pm and consist of 3 legs and usually a beer leg as well. We have to provide food at the home games but Margaret and I are willing to do this at least for the first season. Usually we collect £1 per player at all the games and this normally covers the food costs. Most teams also run a system where any player who fails to score in his throw ( this is called a blob in the game) pays a forfeit of 50p. This money is usually kept for an end of season do of some kind. I would like the team to be made up of local people from within the club if possible. It does not matter whether they have played before because I am willing to hold an evening for all interested and to give some tips on how to play. We will be put in a section that reflects our ability I am sure so there is no worry about being out of our depth. We need to have a team ready by the end of March so that I can do the entry form. Bob.

If you would be interested in playing please reply below or contact me and we can start to get a list of names together.

Many thanks
Cooky
