Broad Oak Cricket Club

'Broad Oakers' gave overseas cricketer Rhys Philips a traditional 'Purple Passion Welcome' which, following an encouraging debut on the field, gave us a glimpse of his potential off the field!

Shame was however brought upon the club when second team umpire Mr J Forrest took three attempts to complete the same challenge.

Amazingly, Ben Burnett somehow managed to avoid his first 'Purple Passion' of 2012 season. After proudly showing to all his wonderful array of pencils, pens, rubber, rulers etc at Broad Oak the only thing missing at Barkisland 3 hours later.... was the score book!

Mr Burnett however has a chance to put things right when his match report is published on line later today!
