Broadstairs claimed the title for the 2nd year running with victory over Canterbury CC

Broadstairs CC were once again crowned Kent Indoor Champions with some outstanding all-round performances throughout finals day at the Ames Levett Centre, Canterbury earlier today.
The day started with a convincing victory over Folkestone CC, chasing down a target of 42 within 6 overs. This was followed by an excellent win over Hayes CC side with Broadstairs posting an unassailable target of 112, with Isaac Dilkes and Elliot Fox establishing a solid platform after the early loss of Andrew Bailey. The bowling from Matthew Frewin in both matches was especially noteworthy.
The final was against a very strong Canterbury team who, like Broadstairs, had been unbeaten in their local division. Broadsairs won the toss and elected to field first. This decision reaped early rewards with opener Burt dismissed, run out by an exceptional pick-up and throw by Isaac Dilkes. The bowling and fielding remained tight and Canterbury were restricted to 67, all out after 12 overs. Special mention to Luke Palmer who stepped-in for the injured Scott Narraway just for the final and bowled with pace and control.
Although this total was within reach, Broadstairs knew they would need to bat carefully and sensibly to resist a formidable Canterbury bowling attack. With both Andrew Bailey and man-of the match Isaac Dilkes retiring, it was left to Andy Marshall and Matthew Frewin to see the team over the line in what was an unexpected but wholly deserved victory.
Thanks as ever to Pete Blakemore who performed the scoring duties and to Eric Banning for putting on such a great Finals Day.
