Management Team to step down at the end of this season

8 months ago By Adam Checkley

In a difficult decision, the current management team have decided to step down at the end of this year.

Today we confirm the current management team under Sam Norton will be stepping down at the end of the season.

Sam stated;

'After much thought and consideration, it is with a heavy heart I have decided to step down from my position as Manager of Brocton Football Club at the end of the 2017/2018 season.
The last 12 months has been the most challenging since I stepped into coaching at non-league back in 2010. As any manager will tell you, it’s so much more than just picking the squad, and it’s time for me to take a step back and focus on my young family and increasing work commitments.'

'Although this season has been a difficult one, I’m proud of my contribution to the club and my achievements as a Coach and Manager. From winning the Staffordshire County Youth Cup, reaching the Staffordshire Youth Floodlit Semi Final, reaching the FA Vase last 32, finishing in joint highest ever place in the FA Cup and the highest league position place the club has achieved in its history working with David Berks & Andy Bourne.'

'My priority between now and the end of the season is to offer the club my full efforts to secure the highest league position possible and offer a smooth transition to the new incoming management team'

'We still have silverware to play for in the JW Hunt Cup as we enter the quarter final in May and I’m hoping with everybody’s support I can leave with another trophy for the club.
My thanks go out to all those who work tirelessly as a volunteer at the club behind the scenes.'

'A special mention goes to Matt Skinner & Alex Molloy, Terry Homer, Dave Berks & Andy Bourne, Tara McDonagh and Joe Cowling, Si Davies, Wayne Baker, Brian and Barbara, Adam Checkley, Eddie Wright, Paul Smith, Brian Townsend and Nigel Pepper for their loyalty shown towards me, advice, trust and commitment in helping me achieve what I set out to do 5 years ago. The contributions and efforts of these people working in a voluntary capacity can often go un-noticed. '

'Finally, a big thanks to all the players who at some point have gone above and beyond for me during their time at the club, believed in what we have tried to achieve and to those who have shown loyalty during the times when it was easy to walk away.'

Chairman Brian Townsend thanked Sam and the team for all their efforts this year.

'Sam, Matt and Alex have had a tough season with us dropping down a level and have endeavored to work on rebuilding the playing side of the club and we are most grateful for what they have done.What is pleasing also is that they all wish to remain part of the club in some capacity which I am sure we can find on our development of players which is our major priority.

We are looking to making an appointment before the end of the season to continue the rebuilding of the team'
