When the photographer arrived at Cowdray Park intending to record some of the match either side of tea and then return to the 1st XI game v Blackheath at Brook, the team were batting and in some trouble, with 5 wickets down and only a terrific stand between Will Owen and Alex Challinor restoring some respectability to the scoreline. Furthermore, the team had only 9 players following a late drop out on the morning of the match. The photographer therefore borrowed some kit and batted at 10 as the team passed 170.
After tea, Midhurst were away to a flying start but then pegged back with Paul Challinor taking some key wickets. With Midhurst 6 wickets down, Brook appeared to have control but an excellent partnership in the Midhurst lower order coupled with a few too many 4-balls and some loose fielding saw the home side ease to a well-earned victory.
Having headed the table for several weeks, the 2nd XI finished the weekend in second place with a cancellation versus Tilford to follow, leaving them with much to do to secure promotion. All to play for!
