"An amazing man, we'll miss him terribly."

Tributes have been paid this weekend following the desperately sad news of the passing away of Club stalwart David Mercer in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Our deepest condolences and thoughts are with Marie and all the family during these incredibly difficult times.

We will provide an updated post in relation to Dave's funeral arrangements when we receive them.

Pictured is Dave at Murrayfield in 2008 alongside South African Prop Tendai Mtawarira following Scotland's narrow 10-14 Autumn Test defeat against the then World Champions.

The colossal front rower is affectionately nicknamed 'Beast', prompting Dave, when forwarding this photo at the time to simply frame it with a hint of modesty and his typical wit, "The Beauty and the Beast".

Dave will be terribly missed by us all.
