Schools’ Rugby

Broughton Primary School: Last week saw an increase in the amount of school-time rugby delivered at Broughton Primary School, with more classes across the year groups receiving coaching with help from PE teacher Lorna Ramm. This was well received by the children and staff at the school, with huge levels of enthusiasm displayed.

After School Clubs: Our after school programmes have been running well despite adverse weather conditions really testing us. We had to think fast on Monday night when the heavens opened and the temperature dropped rapidly, moving the Broughton Cluster After School Club inside to continue working on our skills so the time was not wasted.

Trinity Academy School of Rugby: The school of rugby was in full swing with training moving to the 3G surface at Bangholm. The theme for the week was defensive systems, working as a team to manipulate the space in attack. In their games against Linlithgow on Saturday, Trinity had mixed results with the S2s continuing their winning streak. Good luck to the boys in their games this Saturday when they play Watsons.

BATs’ Youth Section
We had a great turn out for Wednesday’s training session at the RAF hall, with boys from a variety of schools within our BATs’ set up training together. We worked on fitness and core individual skills. The effort was second to none throughout, with some great skills on show even when fatigued and under pressure.
Sadly BATs S1 game against Heriot’s on Sunday morning was cancelled. However the BATs S2 team took on a strong Heriot’s S2 team who had been together for a long time. The boys gave a great account of themselves, especially with a lot of boys playing out of position. Although BATs lost 5-47, the score line did not really reflect the game. There were some really good skills displayed and the spectators were thoroughly impressed. The boys showed great heart to come back in the last few minutes to get a token try after some great phase play and pressure.
Training will take place on Wednesday evening as usual.

U16s:
Unfortunately the scheduled final for BATs U16s has been postponed, as the other semi-final is being replayed, so there is no game for the U16s this week.
