Match report from John Wright

On Sunday afternoon in difficult conditions - a very strong wind blowing diagonally across the field - the BATs U16 beat a stuffy Birkmyre 17-0 on the 3G pitch at Murrayfield.

Playing against the elements in the first half BATs kept Birkmyre at bay and scored a try through Rory Jackson - who had only just entered the game as a replacement - with three minutes of the half left.

Turning round 5-0 ahead BATs played much of the second period in the Birkmyre half though at times Birkmyre tested our defence, which stood firm under their pressure. BATs scored two further tries the first by Harri Morris and the second by Harry Paterson, who converted his own try to make the final score 17-0.

At the end Rory Jackson was awarded a trophy as man of the match, though all 22 in the squad fully played their parts.

A well deserved win of which the U16s coaches should be very proud - another stepping-stone for BATs as we move on to our 11th year.
