The men's side made a winding road trip down to the Borders and came back with all the points from a free flowing performance winning 15 -48.

Having had no rugby action for three weeks, it was a nervous and ring rusty Broughton side that took to the field against Walkerburn who have been struggling to find wins in 2012.

Playing away from their clubhouse it was Walkerburn who managed to put the first points on the board with a penalty, when Broughtons lack of discpline at the offside line let them down. However Broughton pressure straight from the restart saw the Broughton pack rumble from a line out and retake the lead with a try from Ballaytne. Then begin a sequence of Yo Yo scoring as for ever try Broughton scored poor discpline at the offside line or in the ruck allowed the Walkerburn number 9 to keep them in touch and after trys from Wells and Ben saw the first half end 9 - 15.

Half time oranges gave Broughton the spark they needed, to use their extra fitness and a lack of Walkerburn tackling to shine through in the second half. Free flowing rugby and trys being scored mostly by Wells in a poacher role hanging off the shoulders of breaks from others all over the pitch meant the game ended with a score line of 15 - 48 to Broughton.

Special mentions to:-

Johnny Wells for a haul of five tries in the match.
To a winning debut for new recruit Bizo "George" Geambo
To Rhys Williams for getting the coach stuck on a flood plain having told the coach driver "it'll would be fine to swing the coach around on the grass"

The ladies start their 2013 campaign with a 1.30pm kick off against Dundee at Peffermill on the 13th.
