Broughton have bonus point bouncebackability with 38-12 win over RHC Cougars.

Will Waller's hat-trick helped Broughton get back to winning ways with a five try victory over RHC Cougars at Wardie.

Todd's side were looking to get their first points of the National 1 campaign following promotion during an undefeated 2016 title lifting season.

The opening quarter saw both teams trade tries in what was a tough encounter between two clubs who have seen many players turn out for each other over the years.

Boosted by the support on the home touchline, Broughton's patience, phase play and defence saw them start to pull away from a RHC towards the break, with Gavin Tainsh's trusty boot offering extras along the way.

After the oranges and pep talk at the interval, Broughton done what they'd failed to do in the previous two outings so far, and came out for the second half and finished off the job they'd started out to achieve.

In the end, it was Waller's three scores together with tries from Andrew Tainsh and Dan Smith that more than earned the bonus point whilst Gavin Tainsh made it 100% from his conversion attempts and also split the uprights with a penalty kick.

After the match, a happy Head Coach Todd said, "Naturally I'm pleased with the result and to see the hard work put in by the lads at training pay off. It gets the monkey off our back too and we'll take today's result and use it to fuel our momentum preparing for next Saturday's game against Dunbar.

"Having a mix of new players coming into the squad and others coming back from injury has certainly helped today, notably in the shape of Andrew MacIver, Will Waller and Gav Tanish who were instrumental throughout."
