Broughton can lift the BT East 2 title at Cavalry Park on Saturday by securing a win over Portobello as the top two lock horns in the title decider.

After coming back from a half-time deficit last week at a bitterly cold Borders 4G surface at Volunteer Park against Hawick Linden, Broughton are back on grass in the third of their hat-trick of away days in the penultimate game of the campaign against Portobello FP.

Stuart Thomson takes his side to the seaside venue knowing a victory will secure the title with one game to spare however, the Head Coach has urged his men to focus on the game in hand

"Since the split we have talked about having 5 cup finals and each one gets harder and harder.

"All the guys have done the maths and it's no secret that we can win the league on Saturday but our goal since very early on has been to get through the season unbeaten so we will approach Saturdays game the same as every other."

Games between the sides have been tough, bruising and close encounters. Twelve months ago, the top two shared just shy of 100 points in a crazy clash at Cavalry Park with the hosts edging it out with a last gasp kick to win 50-48.

There was just five points between them in the corresponding fixture at Wardie earlier in the season and another tight battle is guaranteed as the top two tussle once again.

Thomson, in his first full season at the helm, added, "Porty are a good side and we have had two physically and mentally tough games already this season and I expect this to be more of the same. They are undoubtedly capable of beating us if we aren't switched on. We will need to bring our 'A' Game and take to it them from the off."
