After the XV Wyverns illustrious win last weekend, next on the cards was a trip to Manchester Rugby Club. The once high flying club have fallen on harder times in recent years and as a fellow local club, we would firstly like to congratulate them on their first team win last week, breaking their two and a half year drought. Such a stint really must sort the wheat from the chaff and the ones that battle each weekend for their badge and club must be commended. This is something I think all Broughton Club members should keep at the fore front of their mind.

The 3rd XV Wyverns are no exception and this season have overcome their own adversities. A lack of numbers, injuries and some players being students has meant that the team has been a chop shop at times, players being pulled into positions not natural to them and newcomers standing in. However, no cloud follows our boys. The smiles where out and the fire was in as we went to Manchester.

With myself at the helm, the boys fought hard, but Manchester's backs had the edge (and 6 subs) enough in the first half to win it for them. Our pack was tight and strong winning most scrums and rucks. In the second half Park came out fighting, hitting ruck after ruck giving depth and width to the backs resulting in some stunning breaks from Mike, Zac, Ciaran, Joe and Karim. Tries came from Joe George, Karim and a multi head clashing try from Chris Jones and Zac Mackenzie with a conversion coming from Mike Bentham.

Man of the Match: James Radford for one of the most majestic kicks I've ever seen come from a prop, if only you were 3 stone lighter, you could of been the inside centre you've always wanted to be.
