Despite missing a number of players due to holiday and work committments Bryncethin played their part in what was an entertaining friendly match at Division 4 West club Fishguard.
It was
Bryncethin who opened the scoring with a try from centre Lewis Davies that was converted by captain and scrum half Lloyd Jenkins to give them a 7 point lead. However Fishguard responded shortly after with a try of their own and followed this with a further two to open up an 8 point advantage at 15 - 7 before young outside half Evan Parry scored a good individual try on his debut for Bryncethin to leave the half time score at 15-12 to the home side.
With the advantage of the wind Bryncethin started the second half positively and soon regained the lead at 19 - 15 with another try from centre Davies converted by Jenkins but then conceded 2 converted tries in the space of 5 minutes to once again go behind at 29-19.
It was another player making his debut for Bryncethin, backrow forward Rees Pope, that scored the final try of the match,which was converted by Jenkins to leave the final score at 29 - 26 to Fishguard.
Bryncethin travel to Silver Ball winners Glyneath on 22nd August to play for the Glamorgan County's Presidents Cup and coaches Paul Watkin and nigel evans wil be looking to build on the performance at Fishguard.
Bryncethin Youth travelled to Fishguard with the senior team and turned in an excellent performance to overcome the local side by 62 -
27.
