Dear Vice President
I have been a member of the Bucks County Executive for 10 years and supported the County Championship Shield Competition at the end of the season in May.
This year was one of the best, with 4 members of Buckingham playing their part in getting to the semi-final once again, but missing out on an opportunity for the second year in succession to play in the Final at Twickenham. Congratulations to Pat Ockendon, Jamie Lee, Mat Payne and Steve Gibson who represented the County and played a major part in their success.
Perhaps next year it will be third time lucky and we reach the Final!
With regard to Club news, after two successful seasons in charge of the 1st XV, Pat Ockendon is standing down as Captain and Jamie Temple is taking over. The Mitres have a new Captain in Andrew Atkins and a duo of managers to make sure this all important team becomes strong and successful, with players ready to play for the Mitres and seeking to move up into the first team squad .
The Swans go from strength to strength and have appointed a new captain in Nicola Lepper to succeed Holy Malins. The other important change is Emma Weingart, who takes over as Chair of the Mini’s and we wish her and other key appointments every success as we approach a new season.
I am pleased to advise you that despite rising costs, the Vice Presidents subscription will remain unchanged at £75.00 (plus a small administration charge of £3.00) for fifth year in succession. This entitles you to apply for Autumn and Six Nations International tickets, have access to VP lunches and games, use of the Club bar facilities and discount hire of the Clubhouse.
Direct Debit is the standard method of payment as it considerably reduces administration for all, however, we will accept direct payment into the Club’s Bank account, details as follows; Sort Code 60-04-09 Account Number 47101407
The RFU has moved its ticket applications entirely on line, so hand in hand with this, we too have adopted an online process. Will Landon sent a number of emails to VPs regarding applications for Autumn International Tickets. Please look out for further emails regarding the 2016 6 Nations.
The dates of VP and other fund raising lunches for the coming season can be found by clicking here.
On other occasions when the 1st XV are playing home/ Cup matches a hot and cold finger buffet will be available at a small cost for you to enjoy 1 hour before the match.
A review of the 300 Club has taken place over the summer to enhance its appeal to those of you who are not already members and for your friends to join. The key decision made is that we shall be doubling the number of cash prizes from September 2017 which will greatly improve the odds of winning. A separate missive was attached to the letter that I sent out with fixture cards outlining the details. Payment can now be made here on Pitchero monthly or annually.
We are looking forward to the forthcoming season and hope you will join us in supporting the ‘Mighty Buck’ in our quest to seek promotion this year. Whatever happens the camaraderie of the Club will remain unchanged and I look forward to welcoming you to our revamped Clubhouse very shortly.
Anthony J. Flack.
VP and 300 Club Secretary on behalf of BRUFC Committee
