Sunday saw the Swans travel up the M40 to take on Birmingham Moseley. Sitting third in the league this was always going to be a challenging game and it proved to be exactly that. The Swans started the game unfocused and Moseley quickly took advantage of this and scored in the first 5 minutes. This gave the Swans the kick they needed and they came back fighting. Brilliant line breaks from Chloe Allcorn and Emily Roberts led to two tries, with a conversion from Katie Clark the Swans were up 12-5 at half time.
Handling errors from both teams slowed the game down which allowed Moseley to compose themselves and assemble a chaotic attack. They scored two tries in quick concession, leading them to a 5 point lead. The Swans held firm and replied with two well-worked tries from Clark and Roberts. Clark kicked one conversion meaning it was 24-17 with 5 minutes to go. Minor errors from the Swans meant it was nail-biting moments until the final whistle. Not the performance Swans were hoping to give the crowd but showed why they are top of league with 6 wins from 6. Winning ugly is what champions do.
They will look to build and hope for an improved performance when they take on Shelford at home on Sunday. 2pm kick off all support welcome.
