Buckley defeated by a strong Breese in final league game
Hard working Buckley succumb against Caernarfon's strike force
Buckley Town’s fate was finally sealed on Friday night against high scoring Caernarfon as they were beaten six nil.
Straight from the whistle Caernarfon played a high tempo game having two shots on goal with both going wide. Buckley played Asa as the lone striker with their ten men rear guard frustrating the Caernarfon strike force by catching them off-side in the early exchanges.
On seventeen minutes Buckley’s first chance fell to Coery Scarsbrick who after some neat interplay with Mike Thompson and Asa Hamilton shot well wide. Within two minutes Caernarfon came forward again and Adam McGee was called into action and made an excellent save.
Buckley found it hard to get out of their half as their defensive plan to contain Caernarfon worked but they had no outlet to feed Asa. Buckley’s best chance of the game came on the twenty seventh minute when Asa won the ball in the air. The ball landed at the feet of Coery Scarisbrick who then laid the ball off to Michael Thompson but he who missed an open goal with a miss-hit attempt.
Five minutes later Caernarfon finally broke through Buckley’s defensive strategy as Danny Brookwell’s shot found the back of the net.
Two minutes before half time Buckley were awarded a free kick in the Caernarfon half. Their effort was picked up by the Caernarfon defence and their three touches caught Buckley sleeping as Jamie Breeze slotted the ball past Adam McGee for his first goal.
Ten minutes into the second half Jamie Breeze received the ball in the box, waited for Adam McGee to make his move before coolly putting Caernarfon further into the lead with a score of three nil.
Jamie Breeze continued his assault making it four nil when his first attempt was parried by Adam McGee and Breeze had the simple job of heading into the goal to give him his hat-trick.
Buckley’s best chance in the second half came on sixty four minutes when Asa ended a well worked move by hitting the upright.
Caernarfon scored two more goals in the last fifteen minutes to run out in the end comfortable six nil winners.
This was always going to be a difficult game against a team at the top of the league but huge credit must be given to the Buckley players for keeping to the task in hand and not giving up.
