Festive Season Reoprts

Saturday, December 17

Berriew 0 - 0 Builth Wells

With many games left frustrated by the weather over the festive period, Jason Samuel's 1st team were in action and claimed a creditable point in a goalless draw at last season's runners-up Berriew. The point moves them up to fifth spot in the table.

Builth travelled with no fewer than seven regulars out, with Jonny and Gavin Samuel in particular disappointing misses, but they turned in a terrific performance with several reserve team players taking their chance to shine, notably Chris Roff.

Jack Hammond had a couple of chances in an even first half, blasting one over and then being denied by Berriew player boss Michael Barton.
Builth went on to control the second half and Kevin Lewis twice might have broken the deadlock while Lee James had a goal ruled out for an alleged push on the 'keeper.

A delighted player manager Jason Samuel said: "With so many players missing, we would have settled for a point before we went but afterwards I was disappointed not to have picked up all three."

Saturday, December 31, Lant Field

Builth Wells 3 - 3 Llanidloes Town

The first team battled back from being behind three times to eventually salvage a late draw with Llanidloes Town on New Year's Eve.

In a thrilling 3-3 draw on the Lant Field, Chris Jones was Builth's hero with a late spot kick earning Jason Samuel's side a point.
The high flying Daffs took the lead against a yet again depleted Builth side through Jamie Breese.

Jones, who bagged a brace, levelled before half time after being set up by Sam Williams but the visitors went ahead for a second tine through Jack Bermigham who netted the rebound after his initial header was saved but Builth again replied when Kevin Lewis got on the end of Jamie McIlroy's cross. When Llanidloes regained the advantage for a third time with a penalty from Rhys Jones five minutes from the end following a foul on Breeze, they surely thought that was it but Builth showed their mettle with Jones keeping his cool from the spot at the other end after he himself had been needlessly fouled by Warren Sherwood.
