If this site is to be the main area for updates, fixture details and reports should we not - close down the original website or at least have a link from it to this new site have more regular updates of matches and their results more people willing to be involved in maintaining the site UP TO DATE INFORMATION - nothing about the last weekends fixture for the seconds or details of the colts If we want to grow as a club prospective players of all levels will think we are just a bunch of people who have a rugby club with no aspirations Just a thought - or 2 or 3 or 4 |

Mark, good to see you using the forum. It is the kind of thing which will engage more of our members. Coincidentally, the previous web designer (who similarly did all of the site design and updates on a voluntary basis - thanks Foggy) has actually pointed www.burnagerugby.co.uk at this website, so I think that your first point has now been dealt with. The switch to Pitchero was actually made because of the interaction made possible with the increasing number of clubs who use it (the Rossendale match photo album was posted to our site by a Rossendale member, for example), and the ability to provide easier access for key club members to add content. All team captains, club staff and junior coaches have ability to update content to the site for match reports, and you are correct in pointing out that this needs to be updated regularly. There are a couple of first team games missing, although mustering any enthusiasm for the reports in question may be difficult! A new website alone does not encourage volunteers. Volunteers, by definition, volunteer! At amateur clubs there are never enough of them, and they never have enough time. The more volunteers we have, the better we will be, although sometimes there is a difference between what needs doing and what a volunteer wants to do. I think that since you started this thread a second team match report has been posted. The timing probably has something to do with your post, and something to do with the scribe's full time job preventing him doing it earlier. No colts report though you're right. I think it would be great to see match reports up for the colts and younger teams, but those adults who watch every game are the same ones who turn up to coach the lads midweek, organise their fixtures and ensure they have enough players available, then chauffeur the lads around. I don't begrudge them for not posting on the site afterwards, but if there are other people who watch most games and would like to be match reporters, we would be very happy to publish their reports. Long may the healthy, constructive debate continue! |

In fairness to Mark, the original post does say "information" about the 2nd team fixture, so maybe he was not criticising the lack of a match report but the lack of publicity for the game beforehand...at least I hope he was! If it is a gripe about the delay in getting the report up on the website, then I would like to point out that I have written a (lengthy) 2nd team report for every match from Penrith onwards this season. That's 13 reports with none missing. This is the longest I have waited before posting a report...and it's only Tuesday evening. Just putting things in perspective. |

Then, as I do generally attend Colts matches, I would be happy to assist with reports. Barty does usually send out a general email but the web site should a;so have that information. Paul Quare sent one out recently but its not a hardship for details to be shown. We should also put posts on to encourage people to come down even if no games are scheduled as their are still options like golf or just drinking (my favourite) |
