Burnham Junior Football Club

Max Pride in Defeat.

by

On a rainy day in Langley, the Boys were on a mission to test the performance of Mum's washing powder.

The Match on Sunday was in complete contrast to the previous, with crunching tackles, good passing, passion and most importantly, effort.
This was our first match against The Golden Eagles, so no one knew what we were up against. From the kick off, everyone on the touch line could see that the Blues were up for the contest and they were going to fight hard for a good result. The Match was played at a good fast pace with chances coming at both ends. Burnham opened the Scoring with a strike from Okba, however, soon after the Eagles equalized when the Burnham defence was out numbered. Later in the match, Okba struck again, only for the Home team to level the score for a second time. Three quarters the way through the match, The Eagles striker shot from the left hand corner of the penalty box, only for Elliot driving to his left to make The save of the season. Then, with Minutes remaining, disaster struck and the eagles hit in a third.
That is how the match ended. 3-2, but everyone was upbeat in defeat, knowing a good and spirited performance was shown by The Boys on both Teams and on another day the result may have been different.
I can’t name an outstanding player, as every Boy out there gave his all, from Elliot (The Cat) in Goal, all the way through the Team to Okba up front.
WELL DONE THE SOGGY BLUES!!

Goals: Okba (2)
Captain: Elliot
