So first week in the job and I'm still finding my fingers and the fact that my words can hit a nerve at times...
So with both Waltham Abbey and Burnham Ramblers losing during the week its a game where both are wanting to start back on that winning run, Waltham in the far loftier position of 4th while Burnham will be chasing their 1st away win of the season.
I'm sure the team will have learnt from their errors over the last couple of games and come out looking to put in not just a performance but get a much needed result.
With the forward line scoring its now up to the team as a whole to defend and cut out the ill-discipline from last game that led to one and could of easily been two red cards.
I won't be attending this game after breaking my record of watching consecutive 1st team games during the week, which now stands at two.
My 1st love will always be local football and as our veterans are the only team at the club made up of players from the surrounding area and it's their first friendly, I will be putting all my powers of the press into covering their game which kicks off at 2pm.
Burnham Athletic who I watched mid week destroy Beacon Hill Reserves 7-0 in a friendly are also playing at Leslie Field against Tillingham Vets managed by Burnham Ramblers old boy Dave Etheridge.
I'll have to check with DJ and Burnham Athletic manager Richard Bethell on how many from each club have played for the Ramblers in the past.
Good luck to Bertie and the lads see you in the bar on Monday when we play Maldon & Tiptree kick off 3pm
