Half a games better than no game...

(picture our u15s girls after their half match )A little bit of history was made at Holden Road last Sunday as the club welcomed Lichfield under 15`s for the first meeting at any level between the clubs. The Girls U15's playing a fixture against a side , who travelled over two hours up from Staffordshire on a horrible day .They are a very established club within ladies and girls rugby.Their senior ladies team are currently 5th in the womens Premiership the highest level you can play in domestic Womens rugby. and it was great they had made the long journey. Sadly with the weather taking a turn for the worse only thirty minutes of rugby took place before the referee had to call it off. Burnley were leading 22- 0.The locals try scorers were - Anya Richmond, Holly Bowden, Sophie Gavin and Molly Wild and a conversion from Cerys Ellis. It was a great effort from all players . Elona Bythell and Willow Bell both ran well in a good competitive game played with good sportsmanship followed by hospitality .Girls rugby was the real winner and Burnley can expect a very competitive game when they make the return trip to Cookes Field, Lichfield. Thankyou for making the trip! Its great to see girls rugby developing across the country. Any girls within East Lancashire who wish to play in a developing girls team please feel free to contact Burnley Rugby Club for more information on 01282 424337 or the Community coach Simon on 07988122186 who will give you any necessary the information you may require .
