Following three consecutive defeats, Ash were looking to return to their winning start to the season, but with a Sevenoaks side that had themselves shown some form they always knew they were going to be facing a difficult match.

Ash started the match at a good pace, and within the first ten minutes got their reward with a good press and individual pressure on the oaks left back by Ian Reddington, the ball was easily surrendered to Stephen Course who calmly slotted the ball past the oaks goalkeeper. For the remainder of the half Ash kept pushing and creating chances which they either put straight at the oaks keepers or put wide. During this time Ash restricted Oaks to a number of half chances created on the counter attack, but none that threatened the Ash goal.

The second half started in very much the same vein, with Ash piling pressure on the Oaks defence, but failing to put their chances away. Eventually Ian Reddington forced the ball across the line with a fearsome strike from wide of the goal. Ash continued to be on the front foot until a 5 minute spell that allowed oaks to earn an undeserved draw. The first coming from a 16 yard hit from Ash’s captain, Jon Steel that went straight to the Oaks inside forward who then passed the ball around the Ash defence to finish at the back post. From the restart Ash pushed forward again, and following a period of the ball being inside the Oaks circle and Ash failing to find a shot at goal, Oak, buoyed by the goal scored moments earlier, counter attacked and found themselves in a 3 v 2 scenario which they finished with another goal at the far post to draw level. Ash again pushed for a winner and saw shots go wide and passes intercepted as they went looking for the winner that wasn’t to come.
