Under 14s win Staffs County Plate

Our Under 14s have won the Staffs County Plate and automatic promotion from Pool 2 to Pool 1 of the League for next season.

Congratulations to Chris, Mark and Steve and most of all the players who have played well all season to earn their promotion to Pool 1. Let's hope you can continue to improve and do yourselves proud for the rest of the season.

Also on Sunday, our new Under9/10s scored their first ever points in only their second outing for the club by visiting Wednesbury. Stafford were also present, so the team got to win two and lose two, all in one morning! Honorable mention to Ewan for his first try, big brother Danny (U15s) is still sulking about missing the great event. And well done to Cain for his first hat-trick (show off!)

Games played at home this week were staggered due to an unplayable bowl. So the Under 13s softened up the top pitch against Nuneaton. Stu reports a strong performance and full effort from the whole team, despite losing 10-24. Will Hazelwood scored on his debut and Nathan Hart put in a solid game at tight and loose (someone explain that to me!)

The other home game was the Under 15s, who had earlier this season got a 100-7 thrashing on their visit to Nuneaton. This time, our lads had something to prove and put in a gutsy performance, holding Nuns to 10-7 at half time. Jack Foden scored, with Ryan adding the conversion. Alex slipped back to scrum-half due to Butch's broken hand, and the whole team displayed maximum heart to hold Nuns to a 7-34 score.

The Under 14s travelled to Nuneaton with the Under 16s. For the 14s Aadam Mia put in s strong performance, and Dom and George crossed the whitewash, with Owen adding excellent conversions.

The 16s had a 'cracking', close game with Nuns, losing 10-8. Speedy Ben scoring the try, and Charlie adding the conversion. Matt, Ross, Callum, Tom and Ben playing out of position but held their own.

The Under 17s ventured to Whitchurch on a fact-finding mission! Although the score wasn't in our favour, new links were made and return fixtures are already being organised.

All in all 9 Mini/Junior games this Sunday, with 6 losses, but NO LOSERS. All coaches report that every player did more than their 'bit' and played with passion and enthusiasm. So if you pulled on a Burntwood shirt this weekend, thank you, your club is proud of each and every one of you!
Carry on!
